Self portraiture: Narcissism and Exercise.
Sure you can argue, and I tend to agree, that self portraiture is nothing but the attempt by the photographer to feed his or her own ego, I would agree with your whole heartedly but it does serve its own photographic purpose, it helps test out ideas and techniques or to sharpen your technique so that when needed you are ready to use it without thinking.
Practice makes perfect, and practice it is with a big helpful dash of narcissism...
